10073 New Handmade RON CARLTON Harness Split Ear Headstall JUSTIN ERICKSON Buckle
This is a nice handmade harness leather headstall made by Ron Carlton with a handmade buckle made by Justin Erickson. Ron is from Canyon, Texas and it is maker marked with his stamp. Ron started building in 1987 and worked for Bob Marrs. He is listed in Old Cowboy Saddles & Spurs by Gretchen & Mike Graham. The headstall is made out of Herman Oak harness leather and is nice and supple. The edges are beveled and hand rubbed. The buckle was made by Justin Erickson. Justin is a bit and spur maker from Pierce, Colorado. It is marked J Erickson. The buckle is steel mounted with engraved nickel silver. There is wiggle engraving in the steel around the mountings. It is attached to the headstall with a chicago screw. This would be a very nice headstall to use.
Measurements: Cheek Piece Width 1 ¼” tapers to ¾” at the buckle strap, Cheek Piece Length 35 ½” to 42”, Leather Thickness a little less than ¼”, Leather Weight 13/14 ounce
