This is a pair of handmade spurs made by the late Leonard G Grubb (1900-1989) from Tulia, Texas. His spurs do not show up very often for sale. LG Grubb learned to build from JO Bass. Mr. Grubb is listed in Bit and Spur Makers in the Texas Tradition by Ned and Jody Martin and Kurt House. He made his first pair of spurs in 1916 and was a farmer most of his life. This pair of spurs is steel and is marked inside one heel band Made By L.G. Grubb, Tulia Tex. 9.12.1978. They have brass heart buttons on the outside and round brass buttons on the offside band. The rowels are tight so they were not worn much if any at all. This would be a nice pair of spurs to add to a collection or could still be worn today.
